When I was a child, everything was very black and white. There were princes and princesses, heroes and villains, but no mixture of the two. Nothing close to gray.
I first experienced gray in the afternoons after second grade classes. My friend and I would slip to the quiet of my backyard to run races, fight dragons, and watch the fairies have picnics in the treetops. We liked to play games of make-believe, especially princes and princesses. But since there were no boys, I was the voted prince. I was named the rescuer.

| I am a small girl of fifteen living in Newfoundland, Canada. I am in the tenth grade, and I attend a public high school where they believe strongly in sports over arts. I enjoy reading and writing more than anything else on this earth, and that's saying something! My favourite colour changes daily with my mood, being at the moment teal. My friends describe me as being an oddity, someone quite out of the norm. But, that has never bothered me before! I work as a janitor for my father's dentist office, which says something about me. I have a slightly obsessive compulsive personality, slightly meaning that I go completely overboard in the cleaning department. My writing space is messy, though, and always will be. My room is quite tiny, but my walls are covered with art drawn by myself, my friends, or artists I've never met. I find it inspiring to look at, even if my mother says it's slightly "morbid".
